Press release
Recticel affected by supplies of non-conform TDI from BASF
Recticel informs that on 5 October 2017 it has been notified by BASF that between 25 August 2017 and 29 September 2017 polluted toluene diisocyanate (“TDI”) – more particularly Lupranate T80 A - has been supplied by the BASF plant in Ludwigshafen (Germany) to five Recticel sites producing flexible polyurethane foams for the industry. BASF is one of the major suppliers of TDI and other BASF customers have received similar notifications.
Based on the preliminary information provided by BASF, Recticel has taken immediate precautionary measures in the affected sites, with a temporary stop in production and deliveries, in order to limit to the maximum extent possible any potential adverse impact on quality and safety of employees, customers or consumers.
At the same time, Recticel has informed its customers that are affected by this issue, and is working together with BASF to conduct sample testing and risk assessment on the non-conform TDI as well as foam produced with the non-conform TDI.
Recticel is committed to limit the impact for its customers to the maximum extent possible. The consequences of this quality issue are expected to be resolved in due course, with production and deliveries progressively resuming already in the coming days. Customers are being informed about progress made.
